You know the basics to give your students an intelligent and effective yoga class. Now become a community leader as a professional teacher through one-on-one mentorship, class assisting and workshops by master teachers in the field. It’s time to define who you are as a yoga teacher and develop your own voice. Graduation from a Yoga Alliance 200-Hour training is required. The course work in this program is 300 hours and will qualify graduates to register with the Yoga Alliance at the RYT-500 level.

About the Professional Program

Prana Yoga offers a cohesive, multi-specialist approach to teacher training that blends the best of the Yoga tradition from the East and West. Our faculty is comprised of highly-trained, experienced, inspiring professionals with a profound understanding of Yoga’s transformative power.

At the cornerstone of Prana Yoga’s teaching philosophy is the idea that the concepts of Yoga must be first understood through the body and the dynamic, conscious practice of asana. We blend the three strands of the Krishnamacharya lineage-Ashtanga, Iyengar and the teachings of Desikachar coupled with our approach to sequencing that is specifically designed to meet the needs of the average yoga student. From Ashtanga the method incorporates heat and flow, from Iyengar precise detailed instructions and from the teachings of Desikachar, posture modifications - the idea that the practice should fit the practitioner.

Our programs emphasize a student’s personal practice as the source for their creative teaching, and include a comprehensive study of the techniques and mechanics of fundamental yoga postures, as well as the tools necessary to teach and inspire others. To deepen their education students will also study functional anatomy and physiology, explore Yoga’s philosophical underpinnings, practice meditation and pranayama, and investigate the ancient science of Ayurveda.

Advanced Study for Graduates

This 6-months program provides students with an opportunity to build upon the material introduced in a 200-Hour Teacher Training, integrate what you’ve learned through practical application in the classroom, and support the development of their individual voice and style as a yoga teacher.

Through a combination of workshops and an apprenticeship with a senior teacher, students will refine their teaching skills, identify areas of expertise, and set the foundation for fully incorporating yoga into your life path.
